how hard is it to clip a dogs hair from long hair to short hair? will the dog get frightened by the clippers ? anyone have any experience with this?

It's not hard...but how good do you want your dog too look is more the question! Other questions to ask are what is the disposition/temperament of your dog? Will the dog stand still and be calm for a prolong period of time? Do you have all the proper equipment? Do you want to go to this expense? Do you have enough time to do the job without being rushed? This is when the 'trouble' starts. What type of 'hair cut' are you planning? The entire body or just parts of it? How often? It seems like a lot of work to me...personally I would leave it to a professional! Good Luck!
