Today I took Ariel (almost 4 mth old rotti) for her first official bath. She wasn't overly impressed but nothing major.
The blower/dryers they have, does anyone have any tips to get the dog to not only enjoy it but to stand tall so one can get the rump dry? A first she freaked but near the end she was trying to bite the air stream. You should have seen her jowls inflate. TOO FUNNY.

lol Doglover, first time I have laughed in a while, I could just imagine Him/Her, I have had dogs freak sooo bad, they litterally climb the ceiling.
Try just putting the dryer you have at home on, just low temp. put it near her, hold down her ear flaps so she can't hear it so much, and get her used to the fact that it won't hurt, give a reward if she sits still for you.

hey doglover, we're giving Conan his first bath this weekend, Im just trying to decide if i want to do this at home, or if im going to take him to a dog wash, i think i'm leaning towards the dog wash. Do I need to bring shampoo, if so, any recommendation on what type of shampoo to buy? I'll keep you posted...wish me luck! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

I would recommend taking to the bath house. I used to do it at home in the bath tub and you break your back plus when they shake off excess water you will find hair stuck to the oddest places. PLUS when he's full size he will be use to the environment, smells, sounds, etc. That's why I took Ariel for her first bath (she's really cleanable with a wash cloth)
The place I go, rents towels and sells shampoos. I would stick to a puppy shampoo and decide whether you want moisturizing, flea control, color enhancing, etc. (This depends on Conan and his skin/fur type) OR you can simply use Human baby shampoo & rinse well. Shampoo works best if you mix it first 50-50 with water than it doesn't all stick on spot and lathers nicely.
