My 3 year old weiner dog loves to swim in the lake and recently got a staph (sp?) infection which I think came from the lake. We treated her and everything was fine. Now, three days after swimming in the lake again, she has all these bumps all over her. They feel like pimples on the top but are large and hard underneath. I've taken her to vet so many times this summer I feel silly taking her again if this isn't a big issue. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if this is even close - but when I was a kid I went swimming in a lake and got things called "chiggers". They were little worms that buried themselves in my skin. I had to put nail polish on top of all the bumps so that the wormie things couldn't get oxygen.
Don't worry about taking your dog to the vet - I'm sure they don't mind. Better safe than sorry!

If there are weeds and such around the lake, it could be chiggers. Very annoying little things. However it could be something more serious. Go ahead and take her to the vet.
