This is driving me crazy! Last winter at the very end, my 3yo Yorkie started scratching like crazy. Finally spring arrived and the itching stopped. Well, about a week ago, my Yorkie started scratching TERRIBLY. He scratches mostly his hind area, until there are bloody looking spots. I have tried Scratch-ex shampoos, changed dog food, and I don't know what else to do. Please help!

One more thing - my dog doesn't have fleas, has had all shots, etc. I can't think of anything new or different in our home. Thanks.....

He could have some sort of allergy. I would try taking him to the vet - and see what they think. They might be able to give you something for the itching. My vet put Neko on Benadryl when his allergies were bothering him.

hi ashemson
my dog was itching like crazy a few days ago too. i brought him to the vet and she had me change him on a lamb and rice diet. NO CHICKEN apparently.
Also she gave my dog some anti-biotics and anti-inflammatory meds. They seem to be working well, although he gets drowsy. and remember, no food from the table! ![[Wink]](wink.gif) [ December 09, 2003, 07:23 PM: Message edited by: iona ]

No soybeans, no corn, and no wheat, if you can help it. They're common dog allergens.
