wouldnt worry - its just a bit annoying, my norwich licks everything she can find too, if theres nothing to lick she'll lick the air. Can definately say thats not a case of her having ben abused. Lou

You may not be able to get her to stop licking other things if this is her nature, but you can get her to stop licking you. The obedience instructor I am using says save the word "NO" for when she is doing something really bad that will hurt her or others. When she puts her mouth on you, or licks you (for more than just one quick kiss) Just make a loud "AHH" sound and pull your hand away. The sound gets her attention & she'll learn that this isn't acceptable in time. As for air licking and such, I agree with everyone else, just chalk it up as one of her unique little quirks

Are you sure you don't have a Great Dane? He licks cardboard boxes when I bring the mail in or I'm packaging something. I just think dogs in general like to lick. Bow Wow Beds

My maltese X does that too and she was from a puppy mill. I believe it is some kind of psychological disorder, perhaps from being away from her mother too early?? anyway, it can be annoying but letting her lick my hands relaxes her so I don't mind

Dogs licking is the same as us kissing, just a different language, It is the best form of affection you can get. LAP IT UP!!!!!! If not make sure you don't get it right on the smacker, Yuk, nothing worse. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)
