Could be asthma, I would have her seen by the vet though. If it is, it could just be mild and he will tell you what to do to calm her during an attack (that's what we do for our asthmatic dog), or it could be more serious and require meds. Of course it could be something different altogether. It could be allergy related.

I've heard that heartworm can cause a dry, hacking cough. I'd definitely have the vet check it out.
Good luck!

Hey, My 7 year old Brittany Spaniel has a wheezing problem. We dont know what to do with her, should we take her to the vet? She used to be a very happy, hyper dog. But the last few day she's been calm and has a breathing problem. If you have any info that would be helpfull please share it. thanks alot, Genna

Genna,
You need to get your dog to the vet. If she's had such a drastic change in behavior for the last two days, it's time to see what's up. I don't take my dog to the vet for every little problem. If they're out of sorts that much, for more than one day, they go in.
Good luck!

I'd get her in as soon as possible, if she hasn't gotten any better yet. It could be related to the cold, or it could be a coincidence. It could be nothing, but if it were me, I'd go. I usually try to wait stuff out, but with the breathing thing, it sounds like it's more than just a slow-down because of the cold.
Good luck!

It is kennel cough. My great dane had it last December. You need to give her Robitussin-CF. You can call your vet and he will tell you how much, because it depends on how much your dog weighs. She will be okay. Just give her a lot of tender love and care. Don't let her get too cold. You can check her tempature and make sure it is okay. I gave my dog, a great dane that weighs 100 pounds, 2 cc in the morning and at night. I give my dogs, 4 great danes, a kennel cough shot every 6 months. My dog got it from a dog next dog that had it.
