I have a 3 year old mix. Yesterday I noticed that the area around her left eye is a little puffy and discolored and there is hairloss around it. I gave her some benadryl thinking it may be an inscect bite or allergic reaction, but it did not help. It is not sore, itchy, scabby or draining. Nor does it seem to be causing her any discomfort. I am taking her to the vet tomorrow but I would like someone elses opinion on what it may be.

It probably is an insect bite. What is benadryl - dont think we have it in the UK. Probably not a gonna work for dogs if its for people though. She might also have got something in her eye and scratched it - if it doesnt go down in a few days take her to a vet. Lou

It's an anithistamine. Commonly used on dogs, but you have to consult your vet first. It is very easy to od. Don't want your dog going to sleep and not waking back up!
