Jake, my 6 yo Golden Retriever seems to have lost some muscular control of his back legs and cant sit or walk for any length of time, although he can walk if l coax him but sadly not without stiffness and then some temporary shaking of his rear legs (mainly the left) on rest. I cant think of any reason why but it happened quite quickly over the last two weeks and our vet has prescribed 100mg Rimadyl/day over a week ago but without any noticable effect. Jake dosent appear to be in pain and is keen to let me brush him all over but today he has gone off his food and toilet duties and seems to be struggling and l'm so worried for him. I dont understand what has happened to him - any help appreciated. [ February 07, 2004, 02:09 PM: Message edited by: tgon ]

Well what does your vet suggest? I mean surely he would say sumthing to you. I would be worried if my GR was in a situation too. But the main thing try and keep calm, and hlep out your golden retriever in any way you can!

Jake was put to sleep this morning - we are devestated. A neurological problem in his spine took away his ability to walk and then other secondary problems lead to the only decision we could make. God bless you Jake - we love you and shall miss you terribly.
