I need to know what you all think? Two of our chihuahuas has stop eating and drinking. One of them who is 9 months old threw up about 4 times friday night and refuses to eat or drink. Actually, we got him to drink a little bit last night, but not much. Also, I woke up to him eating a rawhide stick. But nothin' else. My other chihuahua is 8 months is doin' the same thing. She threw up about 4 times saturday and will not drink or eat anything. I managed to force some water from a dropper down her so she won't get dehydrated, plus she has diarehea. I'm not sure if the other one does..but I don't think he does. What do you all think is wrong with them???? [ February 26, 2004, 11:10 PM: Message edited by: Mr.Pipples ]

GO TO THE VETS. the one with diarrhoea and vomiting could have anything from a number of things and the other could catch it. Dehydration is very serious and requires an intravenous drip, the little water you are forcing in would not be enough. Go before you lose one of them.

I am so sad to say that Precious Liberty Valentino passed away this morning before her vet appointment. . The earliest the vet could get us in was at 2:00 pm and we took that opening, unfortunately she couldn't make it that long. I am sooo much in tears right now. I keep seeing her just laying there helpless not able to move where she was so weak. We still have the appointment though for the other one. Hopeful we caught whatever they got in time for him. I will keep you all informed on what is happening with my dear little Pippy who is scared and doesn't know what is goin' on. Please pray for our family for they all were very attached to Precious and very sadden to this news. At least she is in a better place, where all her pain is gone. I will always remember her little waggy dance that she did everytime you call her name. . I'll be back to post after I get back from the vet, right now it's to hard for me thinking about her and what might happen to Mr.Pippy. Please Pray.

Finally, I'm back from the vets and doing some errands on what had to be done with Precious. So for right now here's what going with dear little Pippy. Pippy looked scared, he didn't know what was goin on. The vet ended up giving him a Parvo test, and well it ended up he had just that. We don't know how him or Precious could of gotten that since they were only in our yard and nowhere else. The vet is gonna keep him for 3-4 days and keep him on fluids and all that other stuff. The vet said we caught it at an early stage. No diahrea (i know spelt that wrong)with blood in it. He has been vommiting, but not with blood. Good thing. His age (9 mos.). Good thing. Why, because the vet said he had a better chance of survival. Now here comes the BAD THING. She said that with his size and how tiny he is, its very hard to keep the IV and etc. in. She said most dogs his size that they treat for parvo, 70% of them live. After we left the vet I ended up calling them about a 45 later to check up on him. This was at 5:30 Eastern. They had already hooked him up to fluids and so far he was doing good. We have to go back up there at 8 in the morning to pay the rest of the deposit and I will have them give me an update on him. Hopefully it will be a good one. Pippy is a fighter. He has fought this disease we are guessing for 4 days now from the first night he started throwing up...and he's still going strong. Precious on the other hand it hit her hard and she couldn't handle it. She, though, fought till her last breath. I feel bad of having to watch her suffer, if only we could of got to the vet sooner. I will post tomorrow on update on our precious lil' Pippy. It's 10 pm here right now, and me and my b/f are both wore out to where we only slept an hour the night before. But hey we had to. We wanted to be with Precious and give her all the lovins in the world. Which we did. I told her I was sorry for all of this and asked god to watch over her and take care of her if he had to take her from us. The last thing I said to her was that I was sorry for everything and she didn't derserve any of what happened and I loved her with all my heart and always will and that she was goin' to a better place where nothin' could hurt her ever again. Then I kissed her little forehead and said a prayer for her. An hour later, she ended up taking her last breath. . But as again, update on Pippy after visiting the vet tomorrow. I ask again, Please Keep Us In Your Prayers. God Bless!

Thought it sounded like parvo, but then I thought no, you would have them vaccinated, so I did'nt say. Lesson learned I guess, you will have a lot of probs. as parvo can be carried on your shoes etc. It stays wherever, and can be picked up by your dog, the vet I'm sure will advise, but from memory it can stay on your property for 1 - 2 years. Not sure if the infected dog can catch it again, but any new pup can get it or unvaccinated dogs. Deadly as you can see, and very quick, normally 24 hours. I am very sorry for your loss, hope your family can get some sleep, Mr Pipples in our prayers.

i am sorry for your loss, but did they get their shots? when did you get the dogs? if they came from a breeder you need to find out about the shots. there could be more puppies out there suffering. i thought my dog had it recently. it was just a scare. i just found out that he never got all of his shots before we got him. he is up to date now, so you might want to ask your vet about that. good luck to you and your baby. we are praying for you and pippy

Okay guys. I am back, finally. Again had to do a lot of other things before I got on here. Precious, the one who died, did have her Parvo shots. That's what us and the vet can't FIGURE OUT! We never got to take her since she died before we were able to get there but with Pippy having it we're guessing she did to. Pippy on the other hand was suppossedly suppose to of already been vacinated. I've already contacted the breeder that we had gotten him from just as berahid had suggested as I was just reading, and luckily she keeps records of all her pups. She went back under my last name that she had taken down when we bought him to put in a folder of the dog we bought and etc...(his info and our info, so she can keep in touch) and well guess what...it turned out that he had only had 1 of the 4 shots. She said she was sorry for telling us wrong, but that she was pretty sure that she would of told us the right thing. I was MAD! All this time with us thinking he was already vacinated and he WASN'T! No look at he's goin through. But to stop this gibber-jabber, here's the update on Mr.Pipples (Pippy or Pip). When we got to the vet this morning at about 10 to pay off the rest of the deposit when had them check up on Pippy and tell us how he was doing. The Vet said that since we had brought him in the day before that he hadn't vomitted yet, but that morning had a little bit of diareha but no signs of blood in it and that they were gonna try him on some food if he didn't vomit within the next hour or so and if he can keep it down they would release him to go home, also she said he was holding his own right now (fighting the disease). We called back to the vet at 3 in the afternoon and she said he was hangin' in there. That he did vomit twice after they tried the food and that he had a lil' bit of diareaha again and this time there was a lil' bit of blood in it but not much. And that it was normal since he did have Parvo. They are doin' everything they can right now keepin' him on plenty of fluids and etc. Then we called back at 6 right before they closed to check on him for the night and they said he had vommited a couple of more times and a lil' bit of diarhea but nothin' unusual. But the lady did say that the VET said the he was lookin' better than what he did when we brought him in the day before. So that's a good thing. I am calling back about 9 in the morning to see how he did through the night. Hopefully good. I will be back in here tomorrow, probably after 6 to post an update. Again, please keep us and Mr.Pipples(Pippy) in your thoughts and prayers. Thank-You!

Forgot to mention this in my post. Is there anything else there is to sanitize our whole house with other than Bleach and Hot Water. We talked to the vet and she said they had a foamy stuff but it was basically just for hard surfaces. She said the best thing so far that will kill the Parvo Disease, is Bleach and Hot Water. We have cleaned and cleaned this whole house from top to bottom with Bleach. The whole house smells like bleach city. lol. Is there anything that is better though. We pack all the blankets, sheets, dirty clothes, and etc. And they are next to be washed. Anything else I should do? Any suggestions from anyone though would be very helpful. I will also be asking the vet this, but I would like to hear you alls suggestions to.

The best thing you can do at the moment is ask the vet if Pippy can recatch the disease when you bring him home, as the vaccination given is a live one, and he obviously has the live virus in him he may have a natural immunity for a while. You need to clean any items you have walked down the street and mybe retouched, like your shoes, slippers, (everyones, sorry). and also if its inside, its gonna be outside in ya yard too. Find out how long it takes naturally to die, think it was a year, but I read the article so long ago now I can't quite remember. It is normally in a dogs faeces, so get rid of any of that. Bleach is the only killer I know of for parvo. sorry. and resting the property, If you know what i mean by that. praying for Pippy.

GOOD NEWS! Pippy comes home tomorrow! Yeah!!!! We will be asking tons of questions though before we bring home, for his safety. I have 2 other chihuahuas also who we kept at my BF's moms during all of this. Well my other little girl showed signs today, and I call the vet immediately to schedule the appt. We were in in no time. She did have Parvo. Stange though, just like the others. Has had the shots. We had her admitted right away. She's in good hands with a very good VET! The vet said no need to worry. She is so in the early stages as we caught it right away, and she's almost a year, and she's so big as it is. Will give an update in a bit. Have work to do. The vet said that back in the back was like Parvo City. My two dogs, plus 6 others had it. She said our two plus 2 others, have been vacinated for Parvo, but still caught it. Strange, huh? Again, please keep us, Mr.Pippy, and our lil' Girl, in your prayers. Thank-You

Pippy is HOME!! Weak and needs re-house broke, but HOME! He's doing great. He's eatin' fine and drinking water up a storm. The vet advised us to put him on this vitamin stuff for about a week. She told me the name, just can't remember what it's called. I'll be at the pharmacy tomorrow to get it. He goes back in 1 week for a check up. The vet said since he was already 8 months. She's just gonna give him 2 of the 4. He starts his first one in two weeks. I just wanna thenk everybody out there who kept us in your thoughts and prayers. Again though, please keep us in your prayers for Pippy and my lil' girl who is also at at vet for at least 4-5 days.
