My puppy has been diagnosed with a PDA (heart defect). Has anyone any experience with this? diagnosis, treatment, prognosis etc. Any information will help. Thanks.

Puppylove, I've not experienced this problem before, but I'm sure you can do a search on it and find lots of info on the web.
Sorry your dog is having heart problems. I hope you're getting good treatment from a good vet!

Patent Ductus Arteriosus is a genetic disorder. It is diagnosed by identifying a heart murmur, followed by tests such as ultrasound, EKG, and X-Rays. The treatment is thoracic surgery and must be teated very early. Immediate surgery is imperitive. If gone untreated, most digs can die within a year of diagnosis.
