our pomeranian sable has been inactive for the past few days. hes been sleeping pretty much all day he eats fine and still goes for walks. another thing he started the day after they left was chewing himself in the same area. hes chewing around his tail region to the point were its bare skin. we noticed some matted fur there could that be the reason? my parents went of vacation for a week, and i was guessing he was depressed. they came back yesterday and hes still inactive but hes reduced chewing the area and its healing over. ne ideas whats wrong with him?
thanks for your time nick

Sounds emotional to me. Clean the area with mild soap and water and try to get him moving again. If matter goes more than a couple more days, take to a vet.

They can chew away at it so much that it causes and infection, he may have had a bit of a temperature with it, hence the inactiveness. One reason for chewing in that area could be fleas, check just incase and treat. Otherwise it could have been from nerves, if it is starting to heal, keep an eye on it, wash with some antiseptic to kill any germs and keep the wound dry.
