I have a litter of 3 siberian puppies that are 3 wks old today. One of them has been very, very fussy the last few days. She'll cried and howl off & on all day long. She is feeding from the mother, so it's not that she's hungry [Confused] . Could it be they need a bigger whelping bed to tottle around in? I notice when I take them out of their bed (it's a plastic kiddie pool-the kind you get from Walmart)to change their bedding the fussy one is happy. Just checking here to see if anyone has in home raised a litter of pup's and if they noticed fussiness.

Thanks,
Bobbi

3 weeks is young to be eating solids so dont worry if one is fussy, they'll come on to food when they're ready. If this is a dominant pup then it may just be that they are getting plenty to eat from the mother just now. If they still arent eating solids in a few days (by 4 weeks old) get a check up from your vet.

Is there any diaharreah, if it is smelly and a light ginger colour, the pup is sick.
I would not say it has anything to do with a bigger area, they normally cry and howl if you swap them from a smaller to larger area, because they feel lost.
Are they warm enough, they won't have full temperature control themselves for another week or so.
You could try giving this pup some solid feed, actually you should be giving it to all of them now, at 3 weeks, that is the correct time to start weaning, try a little baby farex mixed with warm water, you may think he is getting heaps of milk, but the others may be guzzling it all before he gets in.

I love my labs.
