my girl recently got hospitalized for gastritis and she seems to have a hard time for her bowels to be regular. the vet told us to give her pumpking filling, it worked once and she has only pooped once in the last two days. she is a very regular dog averagely poops once - twice a day. and what bothers me is she ate a lot these last two days but it seems like she doesnt want to go she pees alright. any suggestions? Is she constipated or is it something else?

that was what the pumpkin filling was for since it is high in fiber.but it doesnt seem to help a lot. its going to be 3 days now and she only pooped once. i was wondering if there are other more effective means:(

Well by accidnet I gave my pup a large amount of romaine and all I can say is if they need to go they will with this in their stomach adn you dont want to be around.
How old she? If you are at a loss and she still hasnt gone by now try giving her half a head of romaine to munch on. Be forwarned your problem will be the opposite.

Clair, your pup has been very very ill, she will only poop out what is there to be got rid of.
So long as the poo she did have was normal she is not constipated, give her a couple of days back on solids, it should clear up. If she is walking around constantly looking like she needs to go, IE: back end hunched up in the typical dog doing poos look then, yes she is constipated.

Try giving pumpkin (I've heard so many people recommend it and say it works for their dogs). Boiled chicken and rice are always nice to add.
