Topic: frightened of backyard HELP!

A little complex problem -
Until recently we had 3 dogs. One was elderly and passed away last month. We buried him in the distant corner of the backyard (near other deceased pets). The other 2 dogs are about 3 years old and we allowed them to watch and stay at whatever distance they wanted while we buried the old fellow. (We didn't what to keep secret what happened.)
Shortly after that, one of the dogs is now frightened of the farthest parts of the yard and won't step away from the house, no matter how much peanut butter you're holding.
Consequently, he's pooping close to the house, under windows, next to the back door, inside the gate, or wherever he can avoid the distant backyard. The house is full of flies.
Any guru with an idea on how to change this??

Wow! That's an amazing observation! I'm really curious on what kind of feedback you will get! I can't think of anything off hand other than to take him for a walk.

My first thought was to wonder how deep you buried your pet and if in an appropriate container. There may be an odor that our human senses cannot detect. That could very well be cause for a reaction.

That's what I would think. What did you bury him in? I'm sure he can smell him and would therefore not want to go near there.
