My dog tramp(dont laugh)is a shorthair collie jack russel mix and hes so beautiful hes about 2 ft high and is maybe 35 lbs. Hes so hyper and needs loads of attention we have an agility course in the back yard and he loves it and we go for a 1 mile walk every otherday and on weekends he runs the treadmill and on somedays I take him to the barn with me and hes still has so much energy!and he uses it for jumping. he scratched up the back door he is an outside dog but he has lots of shelter and he hates the inside he has aairconditiond garage to playin (we dont have anything but his food and crates and toys in there and we also have a playhouse for him its a regular wooden playhouse and he goes in there and sleeps but when ever I walk by the back door he runs up and jumps on the door and this dog can jump really high His front paws come up over my head when he jumps so hes aesome at agility but when I go out to the back he jumps on me he knows sit I tought i to him in one day when he was 9 weeks old and he started agility then to hes so smart but he just takes all his energy into jumping he loves attention how do I stop the jumping with out makeing him upset with me?

if he loves the attention, then one thing u can do is... every time he tries to jump on you, knee him. well, actually just put your knee in the way so he jumps into it. then ask him to sit (if he knows stay, tell him that too). when he does, pet him and love him up. oh, and one thing, at first, don't kneel down to pet him just stay standing and reach your hand down to him. this will help keep him from wanting to jump. no matter what u do he will probably want to jump cuz he will get so excited. if he does, then you have to stop petting right away. tell him 'no' if you want. i wouldnt cuz in his mind hes not doing anything bad. then ask him to sit, stay again and pet him right away when he does. he will learn that to get your attention, the best thing he can do is to run up and sit at your feet and wait. after he learns this really good (not till then or you will confuse him), then u can teach him to jump on you. you should teach him this because it will help him learn that the only time he can jump on you is when you say so and never at any other time. let me know how it goes!

Ive tried to put my knee in the way but it doesnt work he just comes around back of mehe knows the go away sign wich is a hand gesture in his face like shoo and so he gets up on the porch and sits until I call him back, it used to be every time I would step outside he would come up and sit at my feet but then I stopped rewarding him so thouroghly like petting him so much when he did it and now he thinks that to get my attention he has to jump up in my face. Im working on it again I went to camp for a month and mom did not keep practicing with him like I asked her to and then it all went wrong I came home to tramp the jumping dog. Im over it now to where he doesnt scare small children he doesnt jump on them just bigger people I think he knows that it would hurt them. Hes strange Im just going to start from the beggining with sit and stay. He needs a touch up anyay

Yep the one and only cinnamons great still old still lazy hes soo sweet we were jumping stuff like oxers yesterday and I fell forward (I wasnt paying attention to my heels ) and he moved out to catch me. We were doing major bendiing exercises and he was the only horse that bent correctly I was happy. I caught my dad talking to him in his stall it was totally unlike dad so things are going well except for my hyper dog

I would try telling him NO (in a firm voice) and ignoring him when he jumps. Put him in a sit - and give him praise. It will probably take a while - but he should come around with practice. Sounds like you got a smart dog on your hands!

sometimes he pays attention to my no's he usually does but Im worried about my back door its glass ad he jumps on it all the time I have to go out there and hold him down and pet him he is also very jelous of lucy our 7 year old basset hound and when I pet her he comes over and trys to shove her out of the way. and lucy needs lots of attention its gotten better he doent do it so much anymore. Yeah for a ten dollar puppy at the pound that was infested with worms he turned out great.

Here is what I would do. When he jumps up grab hi two front paws and hold on. Keep him standing on his hind legs until he struggles. Once he starts to struggle keep him up in that position for another 10 seconds. During the time you are holding his paws try to keep eye contact and say in a firm voice "NO PAWS" . This can also be used to stop them from jumping on furniture and such. After the 10 seconds let go and tell him sit. Then reward him for a good sit. This will redirect his attention. Every time he jumps up do this and within a week he should stop. I have know puppies to learn within 2 lessons.
