I'm getting married in Feb. My fiance has a 4 month old german shepherd. I have 2 Goldens, 3 years & 8 months. My problem is the two younger ones. Whenever he brings him around they are so focused on each other, tearing all over the house. Not only is this annoying & occasionally destructive, but neither of them seem to hear our commands they're learning so well when they're not together. Will this get better when they're together all of the time? As soon as my 8 mo. golden is done w/ obedience class, we're starting flyball training & I need her to listen to me no matter who's around. It will get better with time. Once the dogs get used to having each other around full time - they'll calm down.

Things will definitely get better with age and time. My dog becomes so excited to be around other dogs that he turns off his ears and goes absolutely nuts! In time, the newness of the situation wears off and he returns to his normal self. I'm sure that as your young pup and the other dog spend more consistent time with one another that the situation will improve.

I decided to take the Shepherd this weekend & keep him over here to get used to being here...it was a looong night! We start "Mom is the Alpha 101" training today. Wish me luck, lol, I'll need it!
