Hey guys! I bought my dog from a neighbour who bought the dog from another person. Apparently, my beloved Hushbrown had come from a long list of previous owners. I dont know the reason but he is really handsome and well behaved.
Anyway, Hushbrown seems to know some tricks and commands but I've yet to find out what they are. I noticed that he knows his basic sit, stay and lie. Any ideas how I can find out what else he knows?

The only way I can think of is to just start giving him the commands to see if he responds. One trick I've learned with a new dog to teach him to pay attention to you first by feeding him his meals out of your hand. In a real up-beat voice, say his name & as soon as he looks at you, praise & give him a piece of food. Once he starts looking at you everytime you say his name & you know you have his full attention start adding the commands. This is also handy if you want to change a dog's name which I do with every rescue dog I take in.

Thanks Lorianne, can you tell me what are the other basic commands used to train new dogs or puppies? Thanks!
