I have an 8 week old boxer pup who whines, barks and yelps when I leave her by herself. If i cannot be with her, I leave her in the laundry with our 10 yo boxer but she still winges. i have tried leaving music on,getting her to sleep then leaving, squirting her with a spray bottle and ive even tried swatting her back end. Any sugestions

maybe u need to put her in her own crate so that she has a place that she can feel safe when your not w/ her, or maybe u could put her in there every day for a little so she can get use to not having u w/ her all the time.... good luck and congrats on the puppy, boxers r really cute ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

We had this issue when our Female shepherd was about 14 or 15 weeks old. At that time we both worked so crating was the way we had decided to go. I worked from 6 am -1pm and my husband 1pm till 12 am. So Bae was only crated for a short period of time. However to Bae it was way too long. She would howl and bark, just make all kinds of noise. At that time we lived in an apartment. So that kind of noise was not being kind to our neighbors and a fast way to getting kick out of our apartment. So I this is what we did. I had read some where a dog kennel; after the dog got use to it the dog would consider the kennel as their den. Dens are dark so, I place several busy toys (cube, kongs toys etc.) with peanut butter and dog kibble in it, this will give the dog a job, then I draped a sheet on the kennel so that it was dark inside the kennel... By time the dog finishes playing with the toy you are out of the house and the dog sees that it is okay to be alone, this also showing the dog that you will always come back. They chew on the toys and rest. The only time Bae got those toys was when she was in her kennel. One piece of advice -Be careful draping the sheet. Make sure it can not be pulled into the kennel.
Bae started staying in the crate in 15 min at a time until we worked up to 30 min and so on. By the time the process is done Bae was staying in her kennel for 4 hours at a time with out as much a bark. This process took about 2 weeks of consistent kennel training. Today Bae has a yard with a 7 foot fence; she goes out in morning before we leave, at lunch time and when we get home in the evening. Bae is now 5 years old most of the time you will find her resting in her kennel with the door open and the sheet gone. Bae has had 3 litters of pups. They all were crated trained this way .
