Hopefully someone can give me some help or insight with respect to my 10 month old German Shorthair. Here is the situation:

At home, Lenny is a very well behaved, relaxed pup who knows his place in the house. In the field when it is just the two of us, he also listens very well and recall is great. However, at the off leash park things have been going down hill. He has been there interacting with other dogs since he was a young pup and he has had his share of run-ins with older more aggressive dogs. The problem lately, is that he is too rough and goes beyond the safe, reciprocal rough playing with dogs that are younger than him. Today he really roughed up a German sheperd that was 2 months younger than him and it took me several minutes to get him off the pup. He never seems to try this with dogs that are older than him, he just lies down and is submissive at first, then they play.

He is a very sociable dog that wants to play with every dog he sees, but I am worried about his behaviour. . . I hope this is enought info for someone to give me some tips on curbing this.

I think - I am no expert - that maybe your pup has been taught by the older dogs that this kind of behavior is ok.... I have an agressive dog, but she is gentle as can be with puppies. I think that this is because she was raised by a very well behaved dog and raised a puppy herself. (these dogs are all unrelated - same breed however). She learned that she has to be very careful with dogs that are much younger.

Perhaps reversing this "training" from the other dogs will work. I would contact a trainer that will be able to assist you with this... DON'T LOSE HOPE!
