I am stumped and hope that someone may be able to help. I just recieved a dog from out of state that had been turned in to a rescue group which I am a foster parent. When I picked him up at the airport he was all wiggles and kisses. I held a meet and greet in the yard when I got home so that my other pups could meet him and did not have any problems. After about 10 minutes inside where I had been petting him and talking to some friends, he decided to take a hunk out of my hand! This is a *****n/Lhasa Mix male, about 7 years old and has been neutered. He weighs about 30 pounds. I figured he was weary of being in a new place and since it seemed to have been a long time since anyone cut his hair and it was covering his eyes, I thought maybe that he just was frightened when he did not see my hand. Cutting hair was no problem, he sat still and was all wiggles and kisses again. I sat down in the floor with him and was brushing him due to loads of mats in his hair (which I made sure I was not pulling), when out of nowhere, I got nailed again. I put him in his crate where he even started growling at it and baring his teeth. I do know that he has a history of arthritis, but am not sure that this is the problem. I have trained several dogs and not run into this before. Just now, I took him out to potty and he was a happy little boy and then when I put him back in his crate it started again. He dared anyone to touch him!!

Sounds like he is in pain, and everytime you pick him up and touch the spot, that's his reaction. We had a maltese once who go glaucoma, every time we groomed round her head she yelped, we couldn't see anything on the outside, but the vet assured us it was there. Unfortunately we had to have her put down. could be something you can't visibly see, try touching his body for a tender sopt. hope it helps!!

I wish there was a tender spot!! It is no matter where you try to touch him. Most times it is when you just come near him. He is also snarling at his crate and even attacked his dish this morning. We are going to the vet in the morning and am hoping that his nasty temper is from a really bad ear infection and arthritis. But if there is any other ideas please let me know.
