I just adopted a new dog last monday and had to introduce her to our 2 1/2 yr old girl dog. IT was a first and was scary. They say you should introduce dogs on neutral ground that neither dog thinks of as their territory. I couldn't do that, so I did it in our garage. Our dog had never been out there so i figured close enough. Keep them on leashes and allow them to sniff eachother, but keep a good handle on the leash, not too much slack. We also just kept telling our dog what a good girl she was in a very very very happy tone of voice, and she got soooooooo many treats and attention for the first couple days and a new dog toy. Everything is fine, they roughhouse and do a little growling but its just play. I think you will be able to tell if the growling or behavior is a real angry negative one. It should be okay though. Our dogs thoroughly smelled eachothers backends...and no one tried to snap at eachother. Just watch them very close and don't leave them alone if you're not watching, at least for the first 3-4 days. Good Luck!

Well heres what i did. Get both of your dogs on a leash. And then let the 2 dogs sniff, and be able to sniff and check things between them. If they start to bite and stuff, tug on the leash and say NO. And then wait a few minutes, and see if they will bite each other or not. If not then great!! your dogs now r getting used 2 each other. if so(bute each other) repeat the step over again. So they no not 2 bite, and should become friends. Follow me? lol!! good luck!! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Your introducing a female to a male so all should be o.k. in time. Your only prob will be that the pup is still very small, I would leash the older dog and hold onto your pup as she may well get a big fright, could even yelp at the sight, then I would put your male in his familiar territory and place your pup where she can see him and get used to the size, but have no contact, so long as the pup is not retreating, I would then let them sniff, controlling both all the time. Once they are familiar with each other you go to step 2: little pup annoying big PUP!!!! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

You need to watch them together. If your older dog is very laud back, then he will probably fight with the puppy when she gets to be to much. I had a 10 wwek old puppy and moved in with my sis who had a 13 yr old dog. they used to play together and my puppy gave her dog a workout, but b/c of the age difference, when my sis dog wanted to stop playing, my puppy wouldnt. My puppy got attacked. Give it time and I bet they will become the best of friends, just watch them together for a while
