It is a natural instinct for dogs to protect their food, in the wild they may only get a feed every second day or so. He is familiar with you both and knows you are not going to take it away, but anyone new is a threat at tea time. The only way you will stop this behaviour is training. He sees himself as top dog, so he eats first, change this, feed the other animals first, put a leash on him, make him sit and wait, let him know you are in control of feed times, not him. when you give his food, if he growls, take it away and yell NO. when he stops give it back, keep the leash on all the time at feed time so you don't get bitten but still have control. It would also be best to control the pup after he has eaten or he will probably try to pinch the older dogs, you need to train the pup too.
