We have a 7 mo Basenji/Shepherd mix. He usually is a good dog. Lately he started having moments when he will bark and start biting (hands, clothes, furniture) out of control. His biting is only play-biting but we need to stop these uncontrollable urges because he can really do some damage to property at his current size. His baby teeth are all out and there should not be any problems associated with teething. He usually settles down in about half an hour.
I would appreciate any suggestion to stop our usually obedient pup from having fits. The dog understands that I am in charge and will cower if scolded harshly for these actions, however, he will come back with more energy a minute later. Unfortunately it seems that scolding is too much stimuli for him and is counter-productive for training purposes. He also is walked daily and has many chew toys but is not interested in them during these stressful moments.

You have to remove him from the room and ignore him until he calms down. I think clicker training may be helpful to you in this case.

Lou is correct, I have also replied to many topics posted in this forum with the same prob. go back a bit, look in Pups Biting etc. you will find lots of advise there.
