Is there any truth that these products make a dog more aggressive and wild?
My neighbor claims his vet told him not to give these to their young lab, and he claims he noticed she was calmer after a few days.

This dependant on the dog. I have had ones where there is no aggressive and pig ear/raw hide is nothing special. I have a two month old rotti who needs me to hold the ears for her and shows no "aggression" - try it with a piece of hotdog or meat and you're bound to lose a finger.

You should be aware that pig ears are considered a food supplement and they may not eat as much of the dog food which is better for them. I try to limit to one or two a week for this reason. Try them on your dog and see. If you can take it away with little or no resistance, you should be fine.
