My boxer is a sneak, he crawls onto the couch when we are not home, or when we are in bed. He has a chair that is his and his alone, but obviously that isn't good enough. [Roll Eyes]
When I find him on the couch, I really give it too him and send him outside - but it just isn't detering him. I'm getting sick of having to pile toys and things on the couch everytime we go out, or go to bed. A couple of times he even pawed the stuff off so he could lay there!

Is there any way I can stop this? I thought I was doing everything right.

Your dog does not understand the difference between the couch and his chair, unfortunately you either have to say no to all your seating arrangements, or any chair is fair game for your dog.
I did actually manage to teach my 2 yo lab not to go up on our brand new recliners, and she won't, but any other chairs are fair game for her, muddy paws and all.
Unless you are there most of the time, to teach this, I would just remove your dog from any of your chairs.
P.S. now you have let him up though, it is going to take a while to teach him no go.

I love my labs.
