My 1 yr old pug doesn't understand to keep off the dining room table. If a chair is left away from the table, he will happily climb up and boy is he happy when there is some yummy food to eat. I've tried saying 'No' very firmly, putting him immediately into his room, and leaving him there for 1/2 hour or so. He doesn't seem to mind the punishment. I freely admit to not having any idea how to keep him off. He obviously is willing to get in trouble with us as long as he can get some human food. Any advice for us? (If you tell us to push the chairs in, it's difficult for us to always remember to do that. I feel that I should be able to control this behavior without totally altering mine). Am I wrong?!

I've got a 10weeks old pug and believe me, they will do practically EVERYTHING to get a hold on food! Its amusing the way they are so focused on food! My pug also is very stubborn and just doesnt seem to mind being reprimanded, will even often bark at me when i do so. I've tried spraying water on him to aid in training but its like he doesnt even feel the water or maybe doesnt even care. They really have an aloof side in them iguess. but they are one of the cutest things alive!!!!! Hope this helped, even a bit
