I have a 20 month old Australian Shepherd that clings to my left knee when heeling on a lead. He is not normally a clingy dog, but when its time to heel, he hugs my knee so close his head is touching my knee so tight I have to watch that I do not trip over him. When we are moving out at a trot its even worse. Other than that he is dream. I welcome any suggestions.

Try an obedience stick that most people use to make a dog's back end swing in and also for sitting straight. Just use it to push him out slightly. Does that make any sense?
