I'm a college student - next year I'll be in the VetMed program at Iowa State University. I've got a red/rust female Doberman Pinscher named Ilsa. She was destined to be a show girl, but I decided against it (been there, done that, sick of conformation politics) - now she's training for AKC obedience... the politics int he obedience ring are almost as bad!
My first teenage job was as a "kennel scrub" at a vet clinic. I administered routine medications (such as insulin injections and Rx pills), cleaned A LOT, exercised the boarding dogs, and played with the cats, cleaned the facility, etc.
My next job was at a groom shop. Personally, I think it should be mandatory for every vet to work as a groomer - I learned so much about EVERYTHING related to pets while working as a groomer.
