Just make sure that you have a good fence around the property. Mickey loves the dogs on all sides. He always wants them over. But I can't have that.
Sounds like Duke will do fine once the yapping becomes normal. And maybe the yapping will die down once the yappy dogs know Duke better.
I know Mickey hated the yappy dogs on one side of our house and would just bark like crazy. If I were home - I told him No Barking or just brought him in the house.
He also hates squirrels. They drive him insane. So I just bring him in at that point. Until the squirrels go away.

There is a good fence around the yard and yes he will get used to them barking.Should I keep him at a distance upon first meeting or let him right up close to the fence?

You know if you let them go right to the fence, they will bark. But, so what. I guess that's what dog do.
If it doesn't stop then you have to stop it.
Correct your dog. Especially if Duke is going to be in the yard. You know some people have kennels, or dog runs for there dogs.
Good Luck.

Has Duke bitten other dogs in the past? Does he jump fences so that he's on the other side?
He won't bite as long as each dog is kept on its own side. If the little dogs get over to your side somehow, chances are if Duke is basically a good dog he won't hurt the them. And then it becomes an issue of keeping the little dogs out.
Mickey is a good 85 lbs. Other dogs have gotten in our yard and he has gotten out. He hasn't bitten anyone or any other dog.
Thank God.
If Duke is digging the dogs over, (Mickey would do this at our old house. Both dogs dug from their side until they had an escape route) he won't bite the dogs. He obviously wants them over.
If he is digging, put doggy poop in the holes and cover them up. Give him a place where he can dig.
Good Luck

Duke has bitten another dog before and we dont know if he will dig climb or jump the fence to get out because we have never lived in a house in the time we have had Duke.I feel kind of bad for not living in a house before so Duke could be in and out ashe pleases and all.We take him on lots of long walks though. If tyou mean he is basically good mannered around dogs then no but he is really well trained in basics and a few usfule tricks / commands. We still cant call him off another dog though. We are planning on giving Duke a designated digging spot.

Your dog does not sound very safe, and does not sound as though he's been properly socialized. To introduce him to the new dogs, it should not be done in either yard. Do it in a neutral territory. Get down on your dogs level and make sure to have all dogs restrained and under control.
