I was just curious how many times a day you feed your dog. I feed 3x a day. At 8am, 12pm, and between 5-6pm. I dont feed alot I feed the recommended about, I just slit it up through out the feedings. My vet recommends that I feed 3x a day, which is good to know. What do you guys do?

It depends on the breed, size, and age of the dog. Almost all puppies need a constant supply of food. Some can then be divided up into 3, 2, or 1 times a day. Our toy poodles have constant access to food. They regulate their own feeding times and usually have big feeding times 2 or 3 times a day.

Well this may sound wierd to you all, but we only feed Rosie once a day, the thing is though she gets lots of treats as I like to train her agility, which includes using treats, so I guess it is the wise thing to do.

I have a 7 month toy poodle. I feed her Royal Canine for small breeds. The servings I'm suppose to feed her for a day is a half cup a day, and I give her a little over that. Plus I do give her treat throughout the day.

If you currently give your dog only a set amount of meals throughout the day or your dog tends to gulp all his food down at once, you should have him on a so many meals a day plan. If you're just starting out though, you can give them constant access to food. It really just depends on the dog.

Yep depends on the dog and the weather.

I usually feed them twice a day when the weather is cool. And as others posted, there are plenty of treats through out the day.

But when the weather is hot, my dogs tend to eat only once a day. They seem perfectly happy too.

Oh yeah, my other larger dog eats once a day in the winter. He's mostly outside. During the summer, he usually only eats once every other day. He's offered food every day though.

Yes it does depend on the breed AND the size of your dog, they aren't all the same so you have to check with your vet. Rosie dosn't need feeding twice daily as she isn't a fast eater and has a smaller stomach than most regular dogs.
