To Post how lucky I feel to have found my new Pup Emma. I had heard that Great Pyrenees were smart, But at 3 Months????? She was born and raised in a Barn . Literally She was never House broken. We have had her all of a week now and she is already telling us that she needs to go. Ok it's at 2 am, but she woke us up and let us know. I LOVE This Dog. I think the 2 am thing was because she had just been givin some meds for tape worms. I think that gives them the squirts. I feel so lucky. This is the first puppy We have had in 11 years. I think I'll stick with this breed if she any indication of the breeds abilities to learn. She also learned to walk right into her Crate, Day one. I think this pup is a Genius Ok I'll quit gloating. Thanks for reading

Some of them are really smart, some of them are just plain dumb, and some of them are mean. It really depends upon the breeding. I've seen the really sweet ones. Our neighbor had a really dumb one. Truthfully the only dog that I have ever called dumb, she had a lot of health problems too. I have also seen the extremely aggresive ones. The particular one that comes to mind was housed in an 8 foot fence with the goats. He jumped out at least once a day and went around killing stuff, cats, dogs, chickens, calves. Didn't matter.

I have to agree with Dawn. We had a Great Pyrnees/Lab mix (Alaska) who was never overly agressive, normally barked and growled at people as they walked by our house, but had never shown signs he would bite. Then suddenly one day my kids came into the house from playing outside and one of the neighbor girls followed them in. Alaska had met and played with the girl several times, but for an unapparent reason he bit her in the face. She nearly lost her eye and required over 90 stitches. We had to make the horrible decision to have him put down, since I didn't feel I could trust him anymore and he would be around our own children.
Unfortunately our insurance company is being horrible about it. They only offered the family $1,000 for medical expenses and we are currently in court proceedings to get them what they deserve! Thankfully, we were all able to get past this ordeal and our daughters are still best friends!
Just my 2 cents - never, never, never forget they are an animal and as such can be unpredictable!
