I'm sure that butter is as bad for them as it is for us.

I heard the same thing about eggs. Maybe your dog likes eggs.

I've also heard that about eggs. There are dog foods out there that are made for making dogs coats shiny too.

A family member at one time raised black labs. He would get the damaged eggs from the local grocery at a discount and mix with his dogs regular food. They were black and their coats actually looked wet they were so shiny. Big healthy dogs.

my dog used to steal butter off the counter and she was fine she once ate a whole puond of it in the winter we mix just a little bit into their food just to give their coat a little head start aits only a little bit and after that we just put a little in to keep them warm through the summer not an unhealthy amount just a little starter on their coat thats all.

Growing up my mom always poured bacon drippings on the dog's food... back then things were not so loaded with the chemicals. I still add a bit sometimes to Freckles'food. But, she is on Muenster Dog Food, which is a totally natural, balanced dry food made here in Muenster, Texas. People are amazed when they pet her how soft her coat is. It is a bit pricey, but a lot less expensive than vet bills. My sister-in-law in California had a female black lab that would eat every avacado that would drop to the ground from their many avacado trees. She would carry it around in her mouth ...ate peeling and flesh and would spit out the seed. You never saw a coat that glistened like Gretchen's!
