LOL. my JR used to do that when she was a pup. Never did figure out why, just chalked it up to her being really gross, we invested in a laundry hamper with a lid and never left anything in her reach.

We had a mixed dog that loved to get the clothes out of the hamper and chew them. Eventually we just sat something on the lid so she couldn't get into it.

Freckles doesn't chew the clothing, but if I leave the washroom door open she will go in and take out anything with the smell of us on it.... bath towels, wash cloths, my husband's work cloths, etc. I have caught her just rolling on them... twisting and turning. I felt it was a form of affection, until one day I caught her doing the same thing to a cow "paddie" in the pasture!!!! Lou in Southlake, TX

Uh I don't think it has anything to do with the Nice soft Fabric. Dogs follow their Noses. Its the smell. Your dog likes what it smells. You just need to lock up the panties and shorts. Especially the ones that haven't,,,, uuhhh been through the wash yet.
Boy this was hard to write .

my dogs like lanoleum, wallpaper, and wood trimming., they like to eat our clothes, so i have gotten into the habit of washing ALL the clothes right before i put them in the bathroom of a night, the washer kinda keeps them from eating any. i have 1 pair of pants left, and they actually managed to chew them up around the belt buckles.. i have given EVERYONE a fair warning, if you want your clothes in one piece when you wake up, put them either in the washer before you go to bed, or put them in the laundry basket on top of the washer.. i have heard for like on walls and such to put like hot sauce on it and they wont touch it, BUT what do you do if you find out dogs dont mind the taste of hot sauce or you dont want that stuff on your walls staining it?

It is almost a "given" that it is the smell of you (regardless of the source of the smell!). It is just a dog's nature to roll on an odor of any type. A lot of dogs will roll on a smelly carcus of another animal. After a play day with her buddy in her yard where there is some ivy beds... she found something dead and I could hardly stand the smell until I got her home and bathed! She had had a royal roll! As I said in a previous message, the cow manure in the pasture is a prime target for a good roll. For some reason the used wash cloths and bath towels are irresistable more so than the undies. You just have to police the area and keep the items out of reach. It is like dealing with a 3-5 year old human child mentality sometimes...you wonder what on earth they are thinking! Right now I am in the teenage dog mentality zone! Challenging me at every turn.... even knowing their training... but, test you to the hilt! I am told "this soon will pass" (please, please, please!) ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)

*sigh* lol I cant believe I'm saying this but, my mini did the same thing to mine and my moms panties. We assumed the same thing "shes's grose" lol. It is REALLY annoying though. She also loves to chew anything that is soft like comforters, fuzzy blankets, you REALLY need to keep these things away from her. She doesnt really chew them, she pinches them with her front teeth and makes multiple tiny little holes in the fabric lol. Gotta love em!!

Neko is going through the underwear chewing phase. If I don't put it in the hamper - I can kiss it goodbye!
On the bright side - I have gotten to do a lot more shopping recently!

Jango loves panties and bras to chew on. He never chews on my husbands clothes though, go figure. Must like me best. The best suggestion I can come up with is to keep them out of reach. With us I've learned that if I don't want it eaten I put in the dresser right after washing it.

Don't feel bad LadyJ...I had a peek-a-poo named Chance growing up who used to eat the crotch out of my sister's jeans. You just gotta learn to pick your things up and put them out of the dog's reach.
My dad actually built a shelf in the bedroom I shared with my sister. The shelf was like 6 feet off the floor and it was to put our jeans on! The things we do to keep our pets out of trouble!!!lol
