hi all. can anyone please give me advise on somethin? my friends terrier just gave birth to 5 puppies and my dad has allowed my to take one. because im schooling in the morning and sometimes my dad isnt around, i dont know what to do or where to leave the puppy. i thought of 3 possibilities: 1. leave it in the house(not in a cage), but it'll go round chewing/messing things up; 2. leave it in the house in a cage, but it'll be sad and lonely or there might not be enough space; 3. leave it outside with my other dog, but i dont know if my other dog would hurt the puppy or anythin. please help, anyone. you can send me emails as well. thank you.

crate! the best time to get a dog is in the summer I think because you have plenty of time to train it and care for it

but yes crate training is the correct answer!

If you are gone just in the mornings & your dad is there some of the time, this certainly isn't too much time for your puppy to spend in a crate. As long as it's big enough for him to turn around in it's plenty big enough. You don't want it much bigger than that, or he may mess in it. Sure, he's going to whine & cry at first, but he'll get used to his "den". & it'll be the safest solution for him.

Crates are the best way to go. My pup goes in his crate no problem. Dogs like the den feeling - and most dogs once crate trained will go in their crate by their own choice. It's not cruel or mean to put him in their. Also - it'll help to keep him safe when you can't watch him. This way you know he's not getting into anything he shouldn't have.
