Hi Brenda! I think how often you bath a dog, depends on the type of breed or mix he/she is. I would search on Yahoo for the breed and then maybe do "find on this page" or put in the breed + bathing in your yahoo search.

As far as whether or not to wash his face, I don't know but I'll be watching this post for a reply as I'm wondering the same thing!

You need to use a tearless or puppy shampoo on the face. Some breeds, you can get away without doing the face.

I use a small sponge (a bigger one cut in to quarters) to wipe down a dogs' face, and as Dawn mentioned tearless shampoo is the best.

How often does depend on the breed, but I probably wouldn't bathe any dog more than every other week, and that's excessive for most dogs. I bathe my golden & german shepherd about every 3 weeks. What kind of dog do you have?

Oh I missed the frequency question. We have to bathe our poodles at least once a week (using a very gentle shampoo, from this site actually). We have a lab/shephard that only gets bathed around once a month when it's warm.

Freckles gets bathed as needed. Which can be often depending on the activity... especially since she shares the bed with us! (I know...but, think my husband would sleep on the floor with her!!!) I use a spray head on a hose in the shower and at the very last I give her a quick spritz with a fine mist and make it a game. Or, I will wet a wash cloth and wipe her face like you would a child's. I make a swipe with the cloth in and around her ears. Her ears are perky and they catch a lot of stuff from the air.

I bath him once every 2-3 weeks with oatmeal shampoo, other times just shower him with water when he came back from the beach.
I wash his ear with ear cleaner about once a week and use a wet cloth to wipe his face. He doesn't like me shower his head.
