My 10-month-old beagle (Milo) just loves dry cat food. In fact I'm sure he would leap from a pools high dive for a handful of meow mix. I have read the nutritional ingredients on both bags and only see a few minor differences. Don't get me wrong the old boy will eat his chow sooner or later, but would simply destroy a bowl of cat chow when given the chance. Any reason why my Milo can't start on a new fulltime diet of cat food or will he start purrring??? Any educated suggestions. [ February 09, 2004, 03:46 PM: Message edited by: Beagle lover ]

Pretty sure if my memory serves me correct, it's cats that can't eat dog food, not the other way round. They need some ingredient, think it's taurine, only found in cat food. Although I would watch for his teeth, small dogs eating a soft diet are prone to rotten teeth and hence bad breath, they need bones to keep them clean. otherwise I have known a lot of people whose dogs will only eat cat food. ![[Smile]](smile.gif) [ February 09, 2004, 03:50 PM: Message edited by: ellierat ]

Cat food has a lot more sodium in it than dog food. There are also some other mineral imbalances that can cause serious problems.
