Any kind of discharge from the vulva should have been investigated by the vets at the time, dogs do not normally abort unless something is wrong in the uterus. A test used to be carried out years ago, but has slowly phased out nowadays, to make sure that the dogs were not carrying std's, yes dogs do have them. You could try to mate again, they may not have tied the last time, unfortunately if you are serious about breeding you will have to keep an eye on them, count 12 days from when you first noticed the bleeding, then give or take a few for when you did'nt notice, and watch, the male will know anyway, she won't let him tie until she is ready, and will let the male certainly know about it.
