My husband sent me to walmart for some GROCERIES... well i kinda came home with more than expected. um to put it simple, she is 6 wks old, white with brown freckles and a little brown nose. she is a chocolate lab/heeler mix. the owner said if she didnt get rid of them, her husband was going to shoot them. So i grabbed our little addition and ran. [Big Grin] ... the only thing is that my husband is at work and he dont know she exists YET [Eek!]

[Flaming Mad] I cannot stand owners like that!
Let us know how your husband takes it [Big Grin]
Even if she is young, I hope her life isn't as rough as it could've been. [Eek!]

well he wasnt to crazy bout it, but he is going to let me keep her as long as he dont get back into the army. if he gets back into the army i will have to get rid of her... yes i have 2 other dogs, angel is a rott/chow/blue tick mix, and freedom is a rott. angel loves this puppy, she took the puppy under her "wing" with no second thoughts.

No i have not had her to the vet yet, i have only had her bout 7 hrs now and my vet office is about 2 hrs away. I am planning on taking her soon. She hasnt had her shots yet, i just kinda figured it is better for her to have a good home than to be laying in a field dead somewhere. The owner didnt think the humane society would take the puppies because of where they was located or something like that. I think it more less boiled down towhere they wanted to see the type of people who took their puppies...

i am going to get pics, but with the way my film gets developed, it could be 2 months before i get it developed. i will try to get some and con my hubby into getting them developed sooner.

Hi! you sound just like me, I went to get a bridle for my horse and they had a little black kitten to give away, someone had dumped it out bush near their house, they had to feed it with a bottle. It was so tiny, and we just bought 10 acres so I was easily talked into taking it.
So me and the kids made up this story for hubby, who I knew would be sooo unthrilled about the new addition.
Quote Me"I went to get mail up at the box today and I found this cardboard box in the storm drain, with a kitten in it" smirk, smirk. kids trying not to laugh.
My husband said, so your trying to tell me, out of all the properties in our area, someone happened to pick our storm drain to dump a kitten? A year later, he still laughs at me, and says NO MORE ANIMALS. (till next time, hey).

LOL, Yeah, that's just like me. It's like i told him, "how could i say no to such a sweet face". The puppy is very happy here, she has a few bad habits that need broke, but she will be fine. It's just going to take time. I really hope that i dont get to attached (a little to late for that) and him make me get rid of her IF he gets back in.

My life evolves around the "ARMY" and i hate it. I cant have nothing till he finds out if he can get in or not. IF he gets into the army i CAN get a horse, If he dont get into the army, i was pretty well told to forget about it (my life long dream).

If he gets into the army, i will have to give this puppy up because he dont want 3 dogs.

If he gets back in i will have to move every 3 years...

but like usual these are IFFY cases.

Very hard for armed forces wives, my brother has just retired from the air force over here, they had the same thing, pillar to post for 25 years.
I'm sure though if your hubby is anything like mine, once the pup has done something adorable to him, like look at him, or put a paw on him, he won't be able to give her up, and neither will you [Big Grin] . (tell the truth lol)

because of the chance of him getting shipped across seas is great, and if that happens it will be me by myself to take care of 2 kids and all the animals. The one thing i want more than anything is a horse, but he dont want to deal with the hassle of moving a horse everytime we move.

I personally dont want him to go back in, ive been through it before and didnt like what i went through. But he wont drop it until the army turns him down and says dont come back... he has already tried 3 recruiters and they all turned him down.

Some men are pretty determined, you can only sit tight and wait for the outcome.
You will manage if he does go, I raised my two kids alone, with 3 dogs, 1 cat, and a budgie.
Now I'm remarried, with 10 acres, on which I have 4 dogs and a pup i'm gonna keep (see, hubby and I love her 0nly 2 wo) 2 cats now, 5 chooks, 3 ducks, cockatiel, budgie, pony, calves, fish, some days I feel like retiring from the lot. and the 2 kids, one 16 other 10. They are gone all day, so I do it alone, most of the time, and Ellie is not in good favour, she just tipped over a whole bowl of tomato stock, place stinks!!!

The thing is that we have a good marriage, and i do not want the army coming between us. With his history with the military, i dont think they will take him, either way, im not really worried bout it, i just know that i am attached to all my dogs and it will kill me to have to give the new puppy away. I do have another person wanting her if i cant keep her, so she will go to a good home even if it isnt mine. I am not holding my breath either way when it comes to him wanting in and as far as doing things on my own, it wouldnt be much different than it is now. i am on my own 99% of the time as it is because my husband is a regional truck driver, he usually leaves early in the morning and gets back right before i am ready for bed, so it wont change much, it will just change the scenery and eliminate my family coming and seeing me (which i dont want that to happen).

We have renamed the puppy to precious. It is odd how she got her name though. Yesterday i was thinking of names and the only one that would pop into my head was "precious", well last night when my husband got home from work, i asked him what we should name her because she needs a name. I DID NOT give any suggestions what so ever, he took her outside and came back in and said "what about precious".... needless to say the only thing i could do is laugh, it seems like when things are ment to be for us, we both think exactly alike. We have always been like that, it's like we can read each others minds [Eek!] ...

I did get pictures of all my dogs today, but it may be another 2 months before that film gets developed so i can show you.

Here's an update on the new pup. She is doing excellent, i honestly think this is her weaning. when i fed her for the first time she acted like she hadnt ate in forever. She is getting 1 1/2 cups of pup food every day. She i think is finally getting the food she needs. I have not taken her to the vet yet because we had to spend the money to take her to the vet to help us get some propane because we completely ran out the night before yesterday. It has been a cold past couple nights. I have alot of hope for this pup. and i think the tables have turned. I think even if jim does get back in, i dont think it will be hard to convence him to letting me keep her. He is attached.. Like i said "how can you say no to those cute little green puppy eyes". she is going to get her first bath today, she is filthy. She has been running with the big girls. She is very happy here with us. I am actually happy with her, she was an outside dog before i got her and i have had absolutely NO problems potty training her so far, she dont go to the door on her own yet, But the only times she has had accidents was my fault for not getting up quick enough to get her outside. She sleeps in the bathroom at night and while i am gone (unless it is nice enough to tie her out with the big girls while i am gone. She usually wakes me up 2 times the night, but that's ok, I accept the responsibility of that since i am the one who brought her home. She is VERY playful and VERY active. I cant wait to show you guys some pics of her.

well, i'm done babbling,ttyl,bye

Hey there everyone,
I have been so busy this week, hardly had a chance to come online, I took some pics of the pups yesterday, will post them up in the week.
How are you going with your new pup, hope she has wormed her way into your hubbys life.
my pups are turning out like their mum, little ratbags, growling, barking, playing rough and tumble together, I sit in there watching them, giving each a kiss and cuddle, I love them all.
(uh oh) no I'm not keeping them all, lol

precious is doing fine, she is getting to be a butt in some ways, i had the door open for her to go outside, instead, she turns around, walks up to the comp desk and pees on the floor. Needless to say, i grabbed her and shoved her out the door like quickly. She is waking me up every 2 hrs to play or to go outside. She starts whining, and i was told to let her whine, BUT what if that is the sign that she needs to go outside? i mean letting her out of the bathroom is in ways praising her for whining, but if i dont let her out, i'll never get her completely potty trained. When she does that, i take her straight from the bathroom to the front door. Am i doing anything wrong? can anyone give me better suggestions on what to do when she whines like that?

So glad to hear the Precious is doing well. It is amazing as to how quickly we forget how demanding a puppy is. When my 10 month old died we got another right away. It wasn't that long ago that we went through all potty training chewing etc but I did not seem to remember how hard it is. They simply just want to challenge our patience [Smile]

Hi Carrie,
I guess you have to do what you feel is best for yourself with the training, I wouldnt get up in the night myself, I found that once I got them trained in the day, the night time dodoos slowly stopped as well. How old is Precious now? cause you wouldnt expect her to be completely trained till she has full bladder control around about 12 weeks. Grabbing her in the act was good though, because of their short memory span she would have known exactly what you wanted of her.
You can try to feed her early evening as last feed, then put her out as late as possible, put down some paper, then leave her whine, letting her out as early in the morn. as possible, you are obviously going to get some dodoos for a while but if you keep up the daytime training, it does stop in the end.

My little girl did the same every 2 hour cry. She was six weeks old when we got her. My little boy was 8 weks old & never cried in the night. Did the age matter? I don't know. As for you getting up with your baby, that is up to you. I did for a while until I found out she was wanting to get up to play. Then during the day or very early in the evening she would just fall asleep, & when we tried to wake her up, she would waddle over a few feet & go back to sleep. We even took her outside about 7:30 one night trying to keep her awake until bedtime. She rolled over on the ground & went right back to sleep. I thought ok this one is never going to sleep all night.
So I got to where I was getting up a little less & letting her cry a little more. She got to where she slept a litle longer each week. Now,....... 4 years later, she is just a little bed bug. She will sleep til lunch, if I don't go pull her out from under the cover & get her up.

ok, sorry it has been awhile since i let you guys know what is going on. Precious is doing excellent. She has the lab look, but the heeler color. As far as the potty training, we have just started to feed her on a different schedule. I get up around 6ish to let her out and immediately bring her back in (she likes to tease the big dogs), i put her back in the bathroom and i go lay back down... I get up around 8ish to start my day, once again letting her immediately out, i let her stay out till bout 10ish and bring her in to feed her... I let her back out as soon as she eats and since i have the doors open most of the day, she comes and goes as she pleases. She takes herself out to go potty 90% of the time now. I bring her in for her final feeding at around 5 - 6ish. then i let her out for about an hour, then let her in, play with her for awhile and do some "minor" training(no nipping, SHAKE, come, sit, etc...) I taught her how to shake in like 5 minutes, now i make her shake my hand before she gets fed and while i play with her. i have pretty much broke her habit of nipping everyone. I am working on the jumping issue now. I am gonna start crate training in about another week or so. She is only 8 weeks old now as it is. anyways, i did actually get to turn in the film to get it developed, so you will be seeing pictures of her soon. She is a lot bigger than she was in these pictures. a couple weeks makes a huge difference.
well i need to go, i think im gonna feed all the dogs earlier tonight than usual.
