Can anyone give me some tips on good dog houses? I have a seven month old German Shepard/Sheepdog/Rot mix puppy. I live in Reno, NV, USA, where it gets extremely cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer. (Gets below 20* F during daytime in winter, and over 100*F daytime in summer) He sleeps inside at night, but I'm a firefighter, so I can't bring him to work with me and he has to stay outside during the day times. I'm looking for something that will be good for both extremes of weather. Most of what I've seen says it's good for one or the other. I can't afford two doghouses. [Confused] [Confused] [Confused]

Any suggestions?

I love my puppy, even though he's living up to his namesake...

I just built one for my akitas and alls you do is frame it like a house. Their new one is 6 feet long 5 feet high and 4 1/2 wide. in regards to containing head use the plastic mats that are sold to go under office chairs, then slice it into ribbons.

Get an igloo dog house. They are the best. They are made of plastic, so they wont rot. They also have a little wall at the opening so it wont rain inside. They also come with a door flap so it doesnt rain or get wind chills etc. I had one with my childhood dog and got one with our dog now. If it is hot outside, it is cool in the doghouse. If it is cool outside it is warm in the doghouse. The run about $80.00, but they are the best doghouses you can get. I have an 90lbs lab and he has plenty of room in the doghouse. Remember, it is hard plastic and looks like an igloo. Oh, if you want to see just how good they are, climb in one.

I forgot to add, I am from Massachusetts. It gets very cold here and snows a lot. My dog is out every day and sleeps in at night also. He spends a lot of time in the doghouse when it is cold
