Does anyone show dogs, especially greyhounds? I would love to get into the world of showing but am a bit daunted by it all at the moment. [Confused]

Just want to know anything that may be useful really. It's not something I know a lot about so it would be interesting to hear people's opinions etc.

Hi Charlene,
I've shown my Labs. There is so much to know it is impossible to explain it all online.
First you need the breed standard, to make sure your dog is worth showing.
Then you need to teach your dog to do the "show trot", turn, "show stand", etc.
Then there are many tips, Like in our breed you trim just the tip of the tail, don't use any conditioners on the coat as they have to have a fairly rough feel, not a soft slinky one.
You get my drift here, I would go to a dog show first, check it out and ask as many questions as you can from the people exhibiting in your group.

--------------------
I love my labs.
