Powerfull message - but don't get it wrong. Breeders who supply the world with quality companions are doing nothing wrong. This is directed to those people (and I know they are out there) who keep a dog for 1-3 years then turn them into the shelters because THEY SHED, THEY DIG, THEY BARK, and the list goes on.
Dogs do all that and they can do it their entire lives. When you bring any animal into your home you are responsible for it for the duration of their life. I can't imagine what kind of person can love an animal for 3 years then suddenly stop.
Most of us on this site would rather give our right arms then harm our companions. Anyway - read the poem its always good for a little cry and then go hug the babies.
