When my puppy arrives this Friday, I'd like to make sure that anything that might harm him will be out of the way. The puppy is about 10 weeks old, and weighs 18 pounds. Hopefully that gives you a clear enough description. I'm not sure if a small toy, would be okay for him to play with, or if it could be a hazard for him, like, choking or something. I know this sounds like a question that can have answers like "Why in the world would you give a dog that small of a toy..." or whatever, but I'd like him to have as many play things as he can, so he can keep his mind occupied during days that I won't be there to preoccupy him (which will be like, once a year, lol). So, if you could help, please do.

Thanks.

stick to proper dog toys for puppies. They should have a mix of soft and hard toys. They will probably destroy half (if not all) of them. Tennis balls are good for games of fetch but i wouldnt let them chew it or anything. Most pet stores will have loads of different dog toys from rubber balls to soft toys to tug ropes.

Actually, some dog toys are not built top notch, and it's a good idea to look out for them. My dog got some toys for christmas, and he had chewed up the plastic to bits in a half an hour and began to eat the shreds. Also, some stuffed toys for dogs aren't the greatest decision, my dog once tore open a stuffed toy and threw up by gagging on the fluff. For soft toys, I sometimes give my dog stuffed animals for babies. Baby toys are built strong, usually with double stitching. Kirby hasn't managed to tear up any baby toys.
