Hello everyone

I have a Chow [Big Grin] ; he will be one year at the end of June this year. I would like to know the following:

At what age will he be fully grown? I have heard 18 months, 7 months and 12 months and I would just like to clear this up for myself. He is on a very good puppy food and the vet told us that this will let him grow evenly and not let him shot up unevenly like with an unbalanced diet. We have started to mix in adult food now because the puppy food is only until 12 months of age. I have also heard that when you neuter male dogs at a young age, they will become bigger because of the hormones or something; I have not neutered my dog and will not be doing that soon.

Something else I would like to know, at what age will my Chow’s hair be fully grown? I read somewhere that a Chow’s ruff will look different each season. Is this true? When I first brought my puppy home, he had a very thick rough coat, like a normal chow pup. Now that he is becoming bigger his hair is not as thick as a Chow’s and he don’t really have a ruff yet. Is this because he is shedding puppy hair or maybe because it is getting winter where I live or am I just too anxious? [Confused]

Just to rule out some stuff, he is very healthy, get combed regularly (bags full of chow fluff!), have no fleas and is on a balanced diet. [Wink]

This is my baby at about 2 months old.

This is a picture taken of him when he was about 7 months old.

His hair is longer now, especially on his back and there is also long strands of hair in his ruff that stands out like spikes. His tail has also become very feathered.
