My friend that works at a local rescue center invited me to join him at work for a day, and see if I like the place, because they need more workers. As I was looking around at all the cute dogs and cats, I spoted one beautiful pup. I asked my friend how did he get here, and he told me that a guy named eric that works at the center braught him to the center and said that his Flat-Coated Retriever gave birth to a litter of puppies, and a couple of weeks after he gave all of the puppies away to friends, one of his friends returned the puppy to him because it seemed that one of the family members was allergic to dogs, and he had nothing to do with it, so he gave it to the center. The story seemed a bit odd. I was wondering, why didn't he sell the pup, If it's purebred?

I didn't care though...

I was looking at the pup, and he looked at me back. he was giving me that "Come on, adopt me... You know you want to" look, and I could not resist [Big Grin]

So I adopted him yesterday, and Im very happy about it. he seems to get along pretty well with Johnson (my brittany), but my cat seems to be terrified of him. His name is Barkley, and he is about 4 months old. [Big Grin]

This picture was taken at my first ever walk in the park with Barkley [Smile]

Thank you! [Big Grin]
Here's another picture [Smile] In this picture he looks really fat, but he's not. Consider the fact that not all of the black is his fur, some of it is his shade [Smile]

Ohhh!! Isn't he beautiful, how could someone give him away, I would get all the alergy tabs. I could find and fix my problem rather than give him up.
If I told my family I was going to work in a shelter they would all leave me. lol. They know I would keep adopting anything that just looked at me!!!!lol.

I love my labs.

Thanks alot guys.
If you want, im doing a cross country tour with him so everyone can have him for a day. [Razz]

Just kidding... [Smile]

Uhm, I have a question.
Can you tell at this age if he is a purebred flat-coat or some kind of mix, or maybe a purebred lab?

Dosen't matter to me all that much. he's a cutie anyways, just curious...

He looks like a purebred flat coat..definiently not a lab. Labs have short hair. Could be a mix, but if they say he's a flatcoat, and he looks that much like a flat coat, I'd say he is one.
