We brought our BT puppy home today from the breeder. He slept for an hour in the car and when we brough him into our house he wouldn't come out of the crate and is sleeping again. So far a calm transition.

He's 7 weeks and is just starting to eat dry food. How much (cups) do you give your puppy? How often are you feeding your dog?

Go by his approximate weight and read the package.

I usually start my pups at three meals a day. I put the food down for 15-20 minutes (I know, too long) and let them eat what they want, then I take away what might be left. But I have labs so there is usually nothing left [Big Grin] . Do not free feed your pup. This can cause more stress in trying to house train. A pup is usually very predictable in how soon they will do their duty after they eat. And keep in mind, if you are using food rewards for training, that should be taken into consideration in the portion of food you are feeding.
