Something a little lighthearted!!!!
My Ellie does commands by the click of my fingers. UP, DOWN, COME, STAY, she won't touch on the word NO. She doesn't chase the ducks, chickens, or cats. She won't jump on our bed or recliner chairs but goes on all others, she will growl at strangers but never advance, never needs a lead, goes everywhere in the car,(asleep most of the time). She will give a cuddle on command, and never take food out of your hand, you have to virtually shove it at her before she takes it. How smart is that!!!!
How I did it, training from 3 months to 1 year, then just LOVE, LOVE, and more LOVE.
Comments by others: I wish I had her, how much would you take for her? she is better than any dog we've ever had, she is almost human.
Oohhh my Ellie.xoxoxoxoxo

My little Zeus at nite when he hears us set the house alarm goes and gets his baby toy and goes upstairs and gets in bed. If we tell him to get a certian toy he didn't bring up he gets the one he did and takes it downstairs and leaves it and brings up the one we told him to go get. [Smile]

Quote from my friend : Roslynd is the only dog I have ever met that truly believes she is human" LOL, I never knew she wasn't [Big Grin]

Roz-pawz will:
give kisses (a little peck with her snout) when asked
sits in the car like a person
MUST sit on the couch with us... our friend sknow where "Roz's seat" is, and no one sits there...LOL
After she has had her bedtime snack i tell her "Time for bed" and she gets her blankie, drags it down the hall, jumps onto the bed, and covers herself with it (NO KIDDING) EVERY NIGHT!!!
Knows all of her toys by heart (her favorites being red ball, water kong, "dead bird"(lol, her trinin dummy...), and granola bone
Will hit her treat chest when asked where her treats are, and when we ope the chest and say "pick one out"...she'll nose around in the box and ONLY TAKE ONE TREAT!!

soooo.... i think that ellie and roz and all the other dogs better not ever get together, or we'll all be in loads of trouble!!!!

Would love to find out a suggestion on this one though: He loves to go bye bye so when he does hes fine until he feels the car braking then he pops up and starts whimpering but when the car goes in Park look out hes like a nut lol and he dosen't bark he like screams like for instance we get out to get gas even if one stays in car thats not enough he does not like anyone getting out. I try to hold him and hes screaming like and trying to get loose my 14 yr old wont let me take her to school with him because she said it is embarrasing. any suggestions on what may help ? Also if Zeus hears you say want a whippy he jumps in your lap and lays on his back like hes sucking up to you

Does your dog know sit/stay when not in the car? If so, I would practice this in the car, in your driveway. Get in the car like you are going for a ride, start it, drive like 2 feet, stop, etc. then tell him "Sit, Stay" then get out. If he even stays still for a second, give him a treat and praise. This will need repetition like all other training, and in this summer weather, you wouldn't want to do this for long... but 5 or six times ina row, every day and I think he'll get it..

That's the best I can think of [Big Grin]
Good luck... and I have to apologize, because picturing your dog screaming and all, I laughed and laughed [Blushing]

Wouldn't it be great if we could all get together with our dogs, I recon we would have so much fun.
Weimlover, Rosalynd sounds just so smart, what a clever dog, and only one bickie, VERY POLITE.
Jena that is so cute about Zeus sucking up for whippy (what is whippy?)makes you wonder what they are thinking, if only they could talk. [Big Grin]

Either mine are too smart or too stupid. I'm sure they know exactly what I'm saying but Dax (10) knows she has special status now that she's old and won't do anything but bark & sing on command. Ariel is precious but just beginning to learn stuff.

PS How old is Ellie & Sophie (8?) & Wally.

When it's time for bed, Spyder will go and sit next to my bed, and will NEVER get up on it until I tell him to, even after I've gotten in myself. LOL - you'd think after 5.5 years of sleeping with me every night, he'd know it's okay.

People love when I tell him to look out the window. He will jump up on to his chest and look out the front window. Then I'll tell him "No, you silly, the side window.", and he'll run to the other window in the living room.

He knows his toys by name, too - favorites being Scooby, Walter (poor floppy dog with only a head and torso left), Big Mean Kitty and Rope (for tug-o-war). When he feels like a treat, he will go and open the cupboard in the kitchen and then shut the door so I can hear it. We'll look through his various "cookies" and he'll decide which he is in the mood for. Sometimes he won't take it out the container himself, but when he does, it's usually just one. Sometimes he's sneaky and gets 2!

The neighbors had 2 cats - brother and sister. Muffin was the tamer of the two, although was very avoided people and dogs like the plague. I eventually won her over, and managed to get her and Spyder on friendly terms. Her brother Charlie would hiss and puff whenever Spyder was within eyesight. Muffin recently had to be put down. Lately, Charlie has become extremely tolerant of Spyder, actually teasing him through the fence and following him up and down it like doggy neighbors do.

Spyder can say "I don't know". He also gives kisses, but always lets you know when he wasn't really in the mood for it by giving you a low gurgle or two before he actually does it (lick on the nose only).

I have a more recent pic of him and will post it when I have the time to remember where I hosted his other pic from!

I LOVE reading about all your dogs! Makes me wish I could dog-sit for y'all! [Big Grin]
