3/4 cup hot water 1/3 cup margarine 1/2 cup powdered milk 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg, beaten 3 cups whole wheat flour Variation: increase margarine to 1/2 cup and add 2 teaspoons sugar
In a large bowl pour hot water over the margarine. Stir in powdered milk, salt, and egg. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time. Knead for a few minutes to form stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into bone shapes. Bake at 325*F for 50 minutes. Cool. They will dry out quite hard.

Deamon- relax ... don't be so touchy. I think it's great that you post your receipes for us but I think Ken's comment(s) is funny. Truly how many people do you know that would cook something from scratch that is available ready made. for example - who still makes homemade pasta?
That's not to say that we all wouldn't choose homemade pasta if given the choice.
Don't you think it's funny "I LIKE" after all these are for the dog.
SMILE... it makes people wonder what you've been up to.
PS I tried your frozen treat recipe. [ July 08, 2004, 12:52 PM: Message edited by: doglover ]

What may be fuuny to one may not be funny to others. As you may be hurting some one else's feelings w/your comments. I know that my recipes are for dogs but there are people who choose healthy alternatives as far as treats for their dogs.

He wasn't critizing you (i don't think). I like your recipes and your posts. Just keep an open mind & a smile on your lips. Life is too short to get yourself worked up over the little things. Now if you really want a fight "CALL MY DOG JUST A DOG"

It's not the first time Ken has posted something like this. I'm glad you like the recipes. I look for recips and poems to keep my mind off of things because my husband is in and out of this war. So this is what I do when my husband is off to war. So yes I'm a little touchy but that's who I am at the moment. I think you are nice person Doglover. but I just don't think Ken is.
