The other day I came home from the dentist and felt horrible. I assume that dogs can tell when the owners arent too happy, since my puppy obeyed the commands so perfectly. Usually it will take awhile for my dog to listen and behave, but when I was feeling miserable, my puppy was behaving like an angel. He didn't even jump up on me (that's a first). He even put his paw on me when I sat down and he quietly sat there with me also. How Cute. [Blushing]

Just thought I would share that.

I never imagined how much having a puppy can make me happy. It seems like everyday there is something new with my puppy, just like a baby.
I assume everyone else feels the same way with their own pets.

Hello koni,

I too believe that our pets can feel our pain. About 3 months ago I had to pass a kindny stone. Well if anyone out there has ever had to pass on of these little buggers you know how bad they hurt. Well I do have a history with these little buggers. That was my 2nd time in 8 years, anyway. I did have to go to the hospital but they sent me home to pass it on my own...well let me tell you I have a house full. 4 cats, 2 ferrets, 1 dog and a 30 gallon fish tank. And the minute I walked bak in the door I think they all new I was in alot of pain. At all times 3 of the 4 cats were at my side, and I don't think Tanner (the dog) ever left my side. Even the ferrets cuddled with me and that is something they NEVER do. My ferrets are go go go or sleep sleep sleep, never anything in the middle. But for 4 days (that is how it took to pass that darn thing) they were all at my side. Even the fish I think knew. Everytime I would try to get up and go to the bathroom they would follow me through the glass. And the are semi-agressive fish, they would rather fight each other then follow me. They are the best things GOD ever made I do beleive. [Big Grin]

There are reported cases where dogs alert to cancers, seizures, heart attacks.

I have always wondered what our worlds look like to them. They are so intune and a miss nothing.

And they choose to stay with us. GOD = DOG - no doubt!

I had knee surgery 4 months ago and my border collie still licks the scar once in a while when she is sniffing me. They know many things that we can't see.

When I had my last dog, my son passed away. My dog acted as if he was just as depressed as I was. I know they sense it when we're feeling bad if it's really bad.

They do know, don't ask me how, after my recent visit to hospital, I came home with tubes and drips in my arm and Ellie actually sat at my feet, I was'nt allowed to touch any of my pets, she actually whined, she has never done this to me before, after I told her I was ok, it's alright Ellie, she went to her chair and fell asleep.

It seems that animals have a natural empathy that you just don't see quite so much in humans. I know my cat, Rosewood, (sweetheart to me, little snot to everyone else) always seems to know when I am sick or just plain sad. My dog Furbee (AKA "fuzzbutt")--although I do not have such a close bond with her--also seems to sense such things. Unlike Miz Rosewood the Snot, she always appears empathetic to every human she knows.

I also have had kidney stones...but I had to have them surgically removed. They wouldnt pass cause they were so big :-P

But I know exactly how you feel...my animals always know when I'm in pain, and they're especially god and they comfort me. There's nothing quite like an animal to heal.
