Yesterday, I took Twinkie to the groomers. When I took her inside, she was shaking so badly that I thought she was going to jump out of my arms. I know they are very good with her there for she goes to the same groomers each time she gets a hair cut. My husband picked her up and brought her home. She was a nervous wreck when she got home. She acted like she was even afraid (somewhat) to come to us. I guess she was afraid we'd take her back there. When my husband went to bed, she wouldn't go with him. She came in here, while I was on the computer, and she wanted me to come to bed. A few minutes later I went to bed with her. I put her on the bed and after I got into bed, she jumped down and walked around the house. Then she came back and wanted to get in bed with us. She acts weird for she has fear aggression-which we have been working with her to make her more secure for a long time,(like since she was a puppy.) Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle this for me?

You are projecting your nervousness and maybe guilt & she's milking it big time.
The best is to be as though it's no big deal. If she wants to pout so be it. Kick her out of bed and she'll be eager to get back in.
They didn't hurt her so there's really nothing wrong. Don't give in to her setting up "special" treatment.

Twinkie is not sensing my nervousness. I was not nervous at all. She has been to the groomers since she was a puppy.

Peptodog, she is a shih-tzu. She has always had fear aggression. We have been working with her on this problem ever since we got her as a puppy. I really think she is always going to be this way-at least somewhat-for alot of it is her temperament. The groomers are very good with her so I don't know what else they can do. I don't want to put her on nerve medicine for I don't want to lower her immune system. Any suggestions as to how I can work on this? I can work with her and help her on other things when I am around, but I'm not at the groomers with her so there's nothing I can do at that time.
