Lets make this interesting and join in for a chat, enough of the questions, tell us something about yourselves, some of the quirky, disgusting, funny, etc. things your pets do.
I'll start: I'm Sue, I'm 42, married with 2 kids.
Disgusting!!! Sophie loves to bring back, mangled, dead, maggot ridden carcases, cow d--g, horse d--g, eat other dogs vomit and poo. Yuk!!
Ellie is an angel (yeh, right) sent to me by the gods, to take my mind off what Sophie is doing. [Eek!]

I'm Karen 46, I have 2 kids, 18&20. I am a nurse in sub-acute/rehab and love to bring my 2 JRT's in for room visits. The patients love them. For a very hyper breed they always know when to take it easy and are very gentle.

Any questions just ask.

Karen, What a lovely thing to do, it must give you a great feeling, being able to put smiles on peoples faces.
Often I will take a pup from a litter into my sons school, from 3 days up to 8 weeks and let the kids 8-12 yo. see the different growth stages, they find it very interesting, and are sad when they are going to their new home.
The last one I took lost his little toe at birth, so we called him Toeby, even now the kids still ask, how is he?

Thanks ellierat........... You too have made many children smile I see. One particular patient of mine was a young woman with end-stage cancer. Angry and nasty as can be at staff and her disease. We hated to go into her room and she would keep her eyes closed and ignore us anyway. One day I went into her with 8 week old Lucy wrapped in my arms and wispered "Do you like puppies?" She peeked just a little bit at me and when she saw the pup she sat up smiled and cuddled Lucy immediately. I was dismissed from the room and returned about 1 hour later to find them sleeping together soundly. Lucy visited her new buddy a few times after that. That patient died a few days later but atleast the last few days of her life were not as angry. She was actually very nice.

Karen, I know this is an old thread but I really was touched by your story.

Ellierat, I really like what you did, taking your dog to school. Things like what you and Karen have done are so very heart warming. We need more people in the world like the 2 of you!

I have a shih tzu named Twinkie. She has just turned 3. I remember when I first got her. She didn't even weigh 3 lbs. She fit in the palm of my hand. I took her over to show an elderly lady who is my neighbor, and never has liked dogs. She really liked Twinkie because she was so tiny. After that I'd take her over to the lady's house so she could watch her grow. I think it meant alot to the lady, because I always held Twinkie when I was there. Oh! When Twinkie tried to run, she would start hopping, until she actually learned to run. We used to sit and laugh at her. This lonely lady who lived alone had something to smile about, which was very rare.

Here is a most disgusting thing my pup did a few months back.... she ate a pair or underware. I waited almost a week, and it still hadn't "come out" (either way...). The day before her vet appointment, she started to act as if she was goign to vomit... then, up cam not one, but TWO pairs of underware, we got her outside and she proceeded to throw up TWO socks!! GROSS!! And the smell, let me tell you... I was gagging the whole time I was cleaning up the mess...

Thanks Ellierat! Where in the world is everyone?
Is this a new board? I don't see many postings so I was just wondering.
My son has a black lab. She's a beautiful dog. She is quite old now and I know it is just going to break his heart when she isn't with him anymore.

Ok you all put a great smile on my face.....
Ellierat always a pleasure to hear from you.
Barbara thanks for the compliment. You know the joy I felt when the sick and elderly get a kick out of the pups. One elderly resident was a golden retriever breeder years ago. She is now alone no family left and she gets more visits from other residents family's pets than anyone.
She loves it. We have" barn-yard " babies come to visit. It is a local organization that brings baby animals pigs goats chickens pups kittens ..they can't get me out of there.
Weimlover....even your story made me laugh. I am glad your pup is OK but I have to tell you my pups eat my underpants all the time. Socks too.

Thanks to you all for making me smile today.

Ellirat, I'm glad you told me about the forum. I was beginning to think I had ran everyone away! [Roll Eyes] I'm sure you love your lab very much. We have to love them, if we have and keep them!
Karen, glad to hear from you! I thought you had dissapeared.I look forward to getting to know all of you! Yes, I think it's great that you take dogs to see the elderly and sick. I think it does their heart alot of good. Especially the one who was a dog breeder.
Weimlover, Hi! My dog likes to chew on my underwear also. I had to go buy new ones and keep Twinkie out of the bathroom while I take showers.
I hope you all had a good Saturday. I got to relax a little. I was out this morning putting out flyers. I have a house cleaning business. Then I went to the grocery store, came home and was putting away gro. The phone rang and guess what? I had to go give a price to clean a new house. Oh well, I need the business right now so I was glad to get the job. I love what I do because I can go to work part of the day, then come home and I have made a day's pay. I say you can't beat a deal like that. I used to work in an office but I hate sitting at a computer and being on the phone all day. My back really did hurt. I do general cleaning, so it's really not bad.
OKAY! ENOUGH ABOUT ME.

Okay Weimlover,

I get to top your post!!! [Razz] We had a border collie mix a couple years ago that ate a $20.00 bill!!! [Flaming Mad] He ended up puking it up a couple of days later, the hubby and I argued whether to use it or not.

That was the biggest idiot dog I've ever owned! [Big Grin] We gave him away to a friend of ours and she says he's the best dog she's ever had for hearding her sheep!!

Jen,

I don't think that tops my pup, because there certainly was no argument about weather or not we should use the socks and underware [Eek!]

lol!!
